Dear parents, students and faculty of the International Schools of North America,

It is my great honor to welcome you to the beginning of a new school year 2018-2019 at the International Schools of North America. This school year will mark a turning chapter of SNA as we aim to reach the higher level of academic excellence, greater student achievement, and better student service on our new, unique and magnificent campus. We continue to dedicate to a student-center environment which inspires both teachers and students to work smarter to make SNA the flagship of high quality, liberal, and humanity education. This school year remarks the milestones of SNA in the direction into international standards and recognition. International Schools of North America is now a candidate school for the Primary Year Programme (PYP) and Diploma Programme, pursuing authorization as an IB World School. IB World Schools share a common philosophy – a commitment to high-quality, challenging, international education- that we believe is important for our students. This year we will start a challenging academic program that leads the students on a firm pathway of English proficiency, academic achievements and college preparation ensuring you to reach the fullest academic potential and embark on your future success. The enriched and diversified forms of character education, extra-curriculum activities, sports, music and arts clubs will inspire students to work beyond their usual limits to become critical thinkers, collaborative partners, effective communicators, life-long learners, and responsible global citizens.

We look forward to our continuing partnership and support from the parents to provide a high quality education that you have invested in and your children deserve to benefit from. Thank you for giving us the honored chance to educate your children, to empower them to become our future leaders.

It is with great pleasure that we introduce and welcome Dr. David Burpee to our school leadership team. Dr. David has accepted our offer to be the Principal (K-12) of the SNA.
After graduating in 1974 from a teachers’ college in the USA, he started his career in a public school located in New South Wales, Australia. Several years later, he was hired as an elementary grade teacher in New York, USA. Dr. David quickly advanced through the ranks of school administration to become a Building Principal, Director of Curriculum, Assistant Superintendent of Schools, and finally, a Superintendent of Schools.
Upon retiring from education work in the United States, Dr. David decided that he would like to once again work in an overseas school environment. After considering several employment offers from around the world, he decided to accept a Campus Principal (K-12) position in an international school in Ho Chi Minh City. He later worked in a different international school located in Ho Chi Minh City as its Director of Studies (K-12).
Dr. David is eager to return to the international school community of Ho Chi Minh City. He has indicated, “I am thrilled about my upcoming return to Ho Chi Minh City and for the opportunity to work with students, teachers, staff and parents of the International Schools of North America. It is my belief that SNA has the potential to become a world-class international school and I look forward to assisting all constituent groups in realizing this goal.”
His formal educational training includes both a Bachelor and Masters’ Degree in Education from Western Connecticut State University; a Certificate of Advanced Study in Educational Leadership from the State University of New York; and Doctoral course work in Educational Leadership from Teachers’ College, Columbia University.
