Instead of learning subjects in isolation, students explore big ideas that connect different disciplines, helping them develop a deeper understanding of the world. At the heart of the PYP framework is inquiry-based learning, where students ask questions, investigate, and take action. This approach encourages critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving, preparing students to be lifelong learners and global citizens.
The PYP is structured around six transdisciplinary themes, integrating various subjects to make learning more meaningful and relevant:
Assessment in the PYP focuses on student progress and skill development, rather than traditional exams. Teachers use ongoing observations, projects, presentations, and reflections to evaluate learning. Report cards highlight academic achievements, IB learner attributes, and areas for growth. At SNA, we believe that academic success is a collaboration between parents and teachers. We encourage parents to review report cards with their child to discuss study habits, preparedness, behavior, and classroom engagement. Open communication helps students understand expectations and work towards growth.
