Unpack The Criterias to Become an IB School

Starting this August, International Schools of North America (SNA) has become an authorized school for the IB MYP – International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme.

During the 2-year-authorization process, teachers and school leaders received IB Professional Development to meet the requirements as set by the IB. These requirements are the standards and practices, and they are used at each stage of the process, during consultancy, at the time of authorization and every 5 years for evaluations.

The whole community: students, parents, teachers, school leaders and support staff transitioned to becoming an IB school. This transition included changing the way we think, the way we learn and the way we teach.
It has also meant meeting the local requirements of the Ministry of Education and Training and integrating the national curriculum into the framework of the Middle Years Programme.

With the authorization behind us, we look forward to continuing our IB journey. As we reflect on the past two years, we can use what we have learned to map out our future and improve on what we have already accomplished.
