SNA-HCMC is looking for an experienced College counselor, to commence in August 2024. Candidates should be aware that SNA-HCMC is a member of CIS, is fully accredited by WASC, and therefore places safe-guarding and child protection at the forefront of recruitment. JOB PURPOSE:
The college counselor will provide individual support and guidance to high school students on options available upon graduation from SNA, whether related to higher education or career-related pathways. Additionally, the college counselor will recommend courses in collaboration with other relevant team members and determine appropriate educational solutions for students.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provide individual support and guidance to high school students on options available upon graduation from SNA, whether related to higher education or career-related pathways.
• Advise students in making career-related decisions, using assessment instruments where appropriate; assist students in the use of existing resources for learning about careers of interest to them; critique resumes, personal statement.
• Develop, coordinate, facilitate, and/or present academic planning and career development modules.
• Provide information to students and parents on how their courses, grades, and involvement in high school will impact university admissions.
• Advice and support students in their course selections, career planning, and application processes.
• Be familiar with numerous colleges, including:
– Admission requirements
– Courses offered
– Tuition and other fees the college requires
– Financial aid offered
• Keep track of testing dates (PSAT, SAT, ACT, SATII Subject tests) and share this information with students.
• Hold seminars/workshops for High School students to offer information on college admission process.
• Hold office hours for student questions and necessary information.
• Collaborate with other schools/companies to organize and facilitate workshops, fairs, and events at SNA.
• Keep accurate and updated records and relevant files.
• Provide a safe, confidential counseling environment conductive to students sharing their needs and concerns.
