UNIVERSITY COUNSELLOR – SNA IB HCMC – SCHOOL YEAR 2026-2027
Job Description:
SNA-HCMC is looking for an experienced UNIVERSITY COUNSELLOR to commence in AUGUST 2026. Candidates should already have a minimum of at least 2 years of experience in university counselling, preferably within an international or IB school environment.
Candidates should be aware that SNA-HCMC is a member of CIS and places safeguarding and child protection at the forefront of recruitment. To this end, SNA-HCMC abides by the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
Candidates MUST be able to provide suitable background checks. Should a candidate NOT already have these, we will NOT process the application without them.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provide individual university and career counselling to students in MYP and DP.
• Guide students through the full university application process, including course selection, timelines, documentation, and decision-making.
• Support applications to universities worldwide (UK, US, Canada, Europe, Australia, Asia, etc.).
• Coordinate preparation and submission of transcripts, references, predicted grades, school reports, and other required documentation.
• Advise students on standardized testing, entrance requirements, and scholarship opportunities.
• Communicate regularly with parents regarding university pathways, application progress, and post-secondary planning.
• Organize university fairs, information sessions, workshops, and campus or virtual visits.
• Build and maintain relationships with university representatives, education consultants, and external partners.
• Maintain accurate records of student applications, outcomes, and counselling interactions.
• Collaborate with DP/MYP Coordinators, teachers, and school leadership to support student holistically.
• Stay informed of global university admissions trends and changing requirements.
• Promote and model the IB learner profile and approaches to learning (ATL).
Job Requirement:
• Bachelor’s degree required; degree in Education, Counselling, or related field preferred.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in university counselling or related guidance role.
• Experience working in an international or IB school environment is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of international university systems and application processes.
• Ability to guide students through multiple application platforms and pathways.
• Excellent communication skills with students, parents, and external stakeholders.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
• Student-centered, ethical, and confidential approach to counselling.
